Crowned Jewels offer some breathtakingly beautiful bedroom products. I was sent a couple of products of my choice from the Crowned Jewels web shop, free of charge, in exchange for a fair and honest review of each. This review is for the Shaftesbury Titanium Dildo, which I opted for in natural grey.

First, we need to talk about the packaging. It’s amazing! I’m a bit of a wax seal slut anyway (in fact, total stationery whore) but Crowned Jewels weren’t to know so it was simply an added bonus. I was delighted to unwrap the discreet box and find each toy housed in a black cylindrical box, with black ribbon press sealed with red wax. The CJ logo pressed into each one.
Breaking the seal and removing the cylinder pot’s lid, there was matching black tissue paper keeping the toy safe inside. The dildo itself was inside its own Crowned Jewels branded drawstring top storage bag, and I was impressed by the weight of the toy before I even took it out.
Once I did take the Shaftesbury dildo out, I was further impressed by the continued high quality. The ‘natural grey’ seemed the logical choice for me with this dildo, as I am such a fan of the steel creations from Njoy Toys which the Shaftesbury dildo reminded me of when I first saw it online. Unlike Njoy, the Crowned Jewels dildos and butt plugs are made from titanium, not steel. The ‘grey’ is actually brighter than it looks on the website, more of a shiny chrome or silver which was much better than a dull grey.
Titanium is a body safe material but I haven’t seen any other sex toys made from it. The high quality of titanium sex toys coupled with the deluxe manufacturing processes of the creative Crowned Jewels team no doubt goes towards the price tag, which can definitely be referred to as an ‘investment’. These babies aren’t cheap. At £188, the Shaftesbury dildo is a purchase to carefully consider, but hopefully I can give you a clearer idea about what to expect than simply a promo write up on an e-commerce site. Titanium sex toys also means that those with steel or nickel allergies can use these without worry. CJ reassures customers that this dildo is completely nickel free.
The Crowned Jewels Shaftesbury dildo measures in at 7.75 inches overall length taking the curve into account (7 inches as the crow flies), with an insertable length from either end of max 4 inches really to retain a good grip. The maximum circumference of the bulge at either end is 3.5 inches, with the two smaller bulges on one end measuring 3 inches and 2.75 inches in max circumference respectively. It weighs in at 267.2g so while it’s heavy, it’s not too heavy so as to be unwieldy. In fact the CJ website states that titanium is approximately 50% lighter than stainless steel and it does seem much easier to ‘handle’ during use.
As I’ve mentioned, the Shaftesbury dildo can be used penetrably with either end, making this a versatile sex toy for internal pleasure. It’s not the best thing in the world to choose for anal pleasure as there’s no flared base, although if your body can suck up almost 8 inches of weighty titanium without you noticing then perhaps you need custom-made butt plugs. Just throwing it out there. I can’t advocate this for anal use due to that safety factor but if you want to… it’s up to you. Hold on to your toys, folks.
For vaginal penetration – amazing. The curve means that either side used pushes the end bulge against my G-spot, stimulating the nerve endings there. I can opt for a smoother experience or use the end with 3 to 4 ‘beads’ in graduating decreasing sizes, which stimulate my labia as well as inside the vagina during use.
As the Shaftesbury dildo is made with body safe metal – titanium – I can also use whatever lubricant I want with it, whether that’s silicone, water based, oil or hybrid.
During use the Shaftesbury dildo warms up quickly to my body temperature, I’d say even faster than steel. It’s probably something to do with Science. I just know that I only have to hold it in my hand for a moment before it starts to warm up, or perhaps I’m just *that* hot. Yeah. Personally I don’t need to use any lube with the Shaftesbury dildo, or occasionally simply a dot of water based lube (my preference), as using a smoothly sculptured metal dildo always encourages enough natural lubricant to see me through.
As I don’t orgasm from vaginal penetration alone (like a lot of women) I need some clitoral stimulation as well to reach climax. However I do love to use the Shaftesbury dildo at the same time as a bullet vibrator, or the Doxy Wand, or even during foreplay with my partner. It is also good to use it alone without the pressure to reach an orgasm, to be honest.
