Many thanks to Cara for sending me this System JO H2O Water Based Lube to review. Although this was a sample size I really did like the packaging, a clear tube with blue writing, the simple design really appealed to me.

As a big lover of lube and always looking to try new ones, I couldn’t wait to try this out. The consistency I really liked, it is not too runny, or too thick. I can squeeze it onto a toy and rub it in without the lube running everywhere, a big bonus for me.
The System JO H2O Water Based Lube feels super slippery and I was really impressed, it felt almost like a silicone lube, but it’s water-based, so I was wondering how they could do this. I really enjoyed using it with my toys, and during sex, and as a hand job lube for him. It performed exactly how I like a lube to be; in all areas. It never went sticky or needed reapplying, which is really impressive, as a lot of water-based lubes are like that.
So I was feeling like this was somewhat of a wonder-lube. But, one thing I didn’t like was my hands, and other areas, were left feeling quite greasy or oily, and hot water was the only way to remove it. In this way it is different from a normal water-based lube.
So I was left wondering what was in the System JO H2O Water Based Lube to make it so silicone-like in use, and left a oily feel on my hands. And the answer is glycerine. It is listed as the second most ingredient, and I feel they must have used a large amount of it to make it feel so different from other water-based lubes. It also contains parabens, which is a no-no for some people.
As I’m currently in the process of updating all my lubes to be glycerine and paraben-free, the System JO H2O Water Based Lube is not for me. Although it is an excellent lube in lots if ways, it does have it’s downsides. And I will not be using this again, but I’m donating it to my boyfriend for him to use for solo playtime.
