Sheets of San Francisco Fluidproof Flat Printed Fun Sheet Review

Sheets of San Francisco sent me two sheets from their range in exchange for fair and honest reviews. I have the King Size Fun Sheet Plus and the one I will review here, the Sheets of San Francisco Fluidproof Flat Printed Fun Sheet (Black Straps).

Will this Sheets of San Francisco Fluidproof Flat Printed Fun Sheet also be 100% fluidproof as the fitted sheet was? What are the main differences between the two?

First off, this sheet came in similar packaging to the fitted style. Transparent plastic with glossy paper inserts detailing the contents, care instructions, material etc. The sheet itself is wrapped around a piece of cardboard which helps it retain shape through storage and transit to your door – just like ordinary bedsheets.

This sheet is also made from a 60/40 ratio of polyester and polyurethane.

After already unwrapping the black matte rubber-feel fitted sheet, I was really surprised when I opened this Sheets of San Francisco Fluidproof Flat Printed Fun Sheet. It feels completely different. I checked the boxes again. Was it really the same materials? It says so on the box. How can it possibly be made of the same materials when it feels so so different? Unlike the fitted sheet which is cool to the touch and feels almost rubbery, the flat sheet is warm and feels like ordinary fabric. This was welcome after the coldness we experienced on the other sheet, but could this softer feel sheet ever be as fluidproof as the other type?

Sheets of San Francisco confirmed that the materials are the same in a couple of tweets, explaining the difference in layer styles resulted in the different feels for the two types:

This made more sense.

I’ve really enjoyed using this sheet, possibly more than the fitted sheet which was another surprise. I’m such a fitted sheet fan but this printed one has definitely seen more use. It’s gorgeous – look at that kinky strap design declaring that all sorts of naughtiness will be happening on it – and it’s really warm to lay on instead of cold. It’s also formed the perfect backdrop to quite a few of my sex toy photos recently…

Is the Sheets of San Francisco Fluidproof Flat Printed Fun Sheet 100% fluidproof like the colder, rubbery fitted sheet was? Yes, it really is. Somehow from a sheet which feels like fabric this is even more impressive. Take a look at my waterproof testing vid again where I Did The Science:

This sheet is a bit narrower than our king size bed which means it would probably cover a double size bed better. It’s more of a ‘throw’, rather than a bottom sheet. For vanilla sex, typical jizz puddles, a bit of lube and perhaps a spot of female ejaculation this sheet is great. For waxplay candles the sheet is fab as a base on to which the wax can drip, be left to cool and be peeled off afterwards. For hardcore sploshing fans it might be better to get the fitted sheet to make sure all your mattress is protected before breaking out the jugs of custard and the buckets of backed beans. Or whatever your gunky wet and messy pleasure is.

The sheet washed brilliantly just like the fitted fluidproof sheet did, and I didn’t seem to get the ‘pockets’ of water in this one as I did in the fitted sheet. [probably the lack of ruched elastic in the corners helping the water to all completely drain in the spin cycle.

The sheet was best drying on the line outside as the fluidproofness does mean that all the water from washing will drip off the surface instead of evaporating from within the fibres. Not a huge amount, and definitely nowhere near the ‘towel it down to get the excess water off the surface’ wetness of the fitted sheet, but more than if you were just hanging a towel up to dry. As the sheet doesn’t absorb moisture but retains on the surface, the sheet isn’t ideal for drying inside but I managed it with a good shake out the back door first (stop it) and then hanging over the stair banister with a towel underneath for safety.

Summary

Sheets of San Francisco Fluidproof Flat Printed Fun Sheet Review by Cara Sutra

We much preferred the Sheets of San Francisco Fluidproof Flat Printed Fun Sheet for playing on then sleeping afterwards. The fluid still wasn’t absorbed into the sheet so we needed to choose between some wetness beneath us or wrapping it up and taking it off the bed to sleep on our usual sheet underneath after we’d cleaned up and were ready to rest. Although this sheet wasn’t as large as the king size fitted sheet we preferred it for the warmth during use, the luxurious feel, the beautiful and kinky pattern and how easy it is to wash and use in general. In my opinion this sheet is well worth the extra in price if you are looking for a fluidproof sheet which feels like an ordinary sheet.

If you’re wanting the more traditional cool feel of a fluidproof sheet then it may be that the fitted funsheet is perfect for you with its black matte rubber-feel surface.
