Review: Tokyo Design Maro Kawaii 4 Mini USB Teaser Vibrator with Nubs

This is such a cute, fun and unusual vibrator that it makes me squee just to look at it. Sadly, it doesn’t give me an orgasm. More on that in due course.

The Tokyo Design Maro Kawaii vibrator comes in a white glossy box depicting the toy on the front. There’s also a few details about the vibe.

Inside the box

  • The vibrator
  • An instruction leaflet
  • Charging lead

The lead plugs into the base of the vibrator with a jackpin, the other end connecting to any USB port. The vibrator is waterproof, which is a huge bonus.

The Maro Kawaii has a very unusual design, which is probably why I have a bit of a soft spot for it, although it’s not a sex toy I’ll personally be reaching for when I need to orgasm. There are two beaded ‘probes’ at the top, somewhat reminiscent of antennae giving this vibrator an alien or mini monster feel. There’s a raised button on the front of the rounded base, which is used as the handle. Press and hold to turn on then keep pressing to discover the vibrating functions.

Functions

  • Constant vibration
  • Faster constant vibration
  • Fastest constant vibration
  • Double pulse vibration
  • Single ascending intensity pulse
  • Ascending, then double pulse, then higher ascending and double pulse
  • Syncopated vibration in the ‘probes’
  • Syncopated ‘probe’ vibration with longer periods than last
  • Off

Size

Height: 3.5 inches

Handle max circumference: 5.1 inches

Length of probes:  2.25 inches each

How it works

The beaded probes are light and springy and therefore surprisingly effective at transmitting the vibrations from the internal motor right to their tips. The vibration type doesn’t work for me as it’s too ‘tinny’ and high frequency, but if you like a high frequency buzz then this may just do it for you. It’s just too high wired for my clit, not deep and thuddy enough. As this is an external vibrator you could even use it to tease him, over his balls and shaft and underneath around the perineum.

As this is a silicone sex toy, you should really only use water based sex lubricants with it to avoid any surface damage.

One disadvantage to the style of this vibrator is that you really need to clean it very carefully indeed. it’s best if you have an old toothbrush or nail brush for toy cleaning purposes. The creases between the probe beads tend to resist a thorough clean. However, the toy is waterproof so you can really get in there with soapy water then spritz with anti bacterial sex toy cleaner.

Summary

At £34.95 it’s not the cheapest vibrator out there but it’s certainly not the most expensive either. For a silicone, waterproof, unusual sex toy I feel this would be worth the investment if those high type vibes are what you’re after. Perhaps a unique gift for an alien or tentacle fan? Either way, this vibrator is easy to figure out, rechargeable so you don’t have to worry about batteries and has a good range of functions so you can enjoy exploring the patterns and how they please you and a partner.
