Pipedream Pure Aluminium Vibrator Review

Pipedream Pure Aluminium vibrator review

I received the Pipedream Pure Aluminium Vibrator in a recent delivery of sex toys from Simply Pleasure. This lovely shop kindly sent a package of sex toys to me free, for the purpose of fair and honest reviews. Delivery was fast, professional and discreet as ever.

I also received the LELO Ora, Leaf+ Fresh, a Pipedream Ceramix Vibrator and a couple of Zolo male masturbators to try out. Reviews will be published as expediently as possible!

Getting back to the Pipedream Aluminium Vibrator: the box is in the typical Pipedream Products style, with front leaf magnetic closure which opens to show the product through a clear plastic window. The reverse of the front leaf has more information about the vibrator. It’s similar in design to the Icicles range, and immediately recognisable as one of the Pipedream collection, albeit a new product in the very large and still fast-growing Pipedream family of sex toys.

You take the vibrator out of the box by opening the box at the top, and carefully taking out the inner moulded foam where the vibrator is sat, safely and securely. It is a perfect fit in the foam insert and therefore kept safe during company storage, transit and delivery to your door.

First impressions

Pipedream_Aluminium-11

It’s when you take the vibrator out of that insert that you really get a sense of what makes it special. The metal of this vibrator makes it a medium-heavyweight, in my opinion. Definitely not as heavy as a stone dildo, slightly heavier than some glass dildos, slightly lighter than some beasts of a rabbit vibrator. Due to the curve after the ridges for stimulation on the shaft and before you reach the tip with the power button, it’s comfortable to hold in your hand and doesn’t feel like it’s about to slip from your grasp and blacken your toes.

Then there’s the colour. Mesmerising, azure blue. It’s a glimmering, neon, electric blue which is rather 80s-tastic but in a funky definitely-not-sad way. It’s not a colour you see on sex toys much, so it adds extra appeal for those of us who are bored of pinks and purples. The aluminium material helps in this regard as the metallic sheen gives an added glamour that would be missing with a matte finish.

There are torpedo connotations thanks to the bullet shape to the shaft and tip, helped perhaps by the ammo-esque stimulation ridges where the shaft flares to its widest point before tapering again to the comfortably ‘pointed for precision’ tip.

Size and functions

This Pipedream Aluminium vibrator measures 7 inches in length and has a maximum circumference 4.6 inches. The functions are fairly easy, which is a refreshing change to and relief from the more complex vibrators out there. Just push the button on the base to find the first setting, push again and again to scroll through. The functions are: low constant vibration, medium constant vibration, high constant vibration, off. Simples.

It’s not a rechargeable sex toy so you will need to dip into the battery box. It takes two AA batteries which aren’t included, so if you’re low on batteries, get stocked up now.

Waterproof

Giving the vibrator added value is the fact it’s waterproof. So you can take it in the bath or shower no problem – although I would personally choose the bath for this over the shower, in case you drop it on the tiles. It’s not exactly feather light and combined with the lube or soap you could risk those toesies again.

As this vibe is waterproof it’s worry-free to clean. You might, however, have to get the nail brush on the stimulation ridges to make sure it’s thoroughly clean, and don’t forget a spritz of anti-bacterial sex toy cleaner too.

During use

The Pipedream Aluminium Vibrator feels cold to the touch when you first use it, which is an arousing sensation sliding it inside. It works best along with some sex lubricant, and as it’s a metal vibrator you can use water based or silicone lube. I choose to use water based most of the time as it is easily washable and doesn’t stain clothing or sheets.

Even though it’s cold upon first touch, the metal warms to your body temperature during use. Not only that, it retains your body heat and after removing it you can feel the heat on the material.

Although the vibrations travel very well through the vibrator and it’s very easy to use, the vibrations just aren’t strong enough for me. I don’t know whether that’s down to the specific motor Pipedream have used in this vibe, or whether it’s due to it being a battery powered vibrator and I’ve become used to (or, spoilt by) rechargeable or even better, mains powered vibrations. Power hungry.

For someone who finds the high frequency of powerful beasts such as mains powered wand vibrators or the iGino One too much to handle, this vibrator would probably be ideal. For me, although it feels lovely inside while using something else externally on my clit, it’s not enough by itself to bring me to orgasm.

I would use this only with another sex toy (such as a powerful bullet vibrator) to reach climax. It’s also fun to use with your partner present, during foreplay. In this way it does make a lovely metallic object for insertion, especially with the stimulation ridges which give arousing sensation to the inner area of the vagina.

There’s no flared base so I can’t officially advise you to use this sex toy for anal fun, although it’s 7 inches long so there’s enough room to keep hold of it if you’re careful. I definitely couldn’t guarantee that it wouldn’t slip up inside you; however I have used this toy anally myself, knowing the risks involved. Probably setting a bad example, right? Don’t worry. I’m not recommending that YOU use this thing up your butt as it would be irresponsible of me, but (heh) it did feel fantastic used there in place of another of my butt plugs.

Summary

The Pipedream Aluminium Vibrator looks different, feels different, is easy to use and is waterproof too – but sadly it missed the mark for me. Definitely one for those with a lower threshold to vibrations. Stock up on the batteries and lube. It’s also not the cheapest vibrator, especially seeing as it’s battery powered, doesn’t come with any storage pouch or batteries, isn’t that powerful and only has few functions compared to others in its field. However, the stimulation ridges add a nice dimension and the metal material (certain to have added to the manufacturing costs) is both cool and ‘hot’ all at once.

If you’d like to give this a whirl yourself, you can buy the Pipedream Aluminium Vibrator here at Simply Pleasure for £49.
