LELO_Insignia_Isla-10

After my surprise love of the LELO Insignia rabbit vibrator, the Soraya, I just had to try the clit-stim-free version, the LELO Insignia Isla vibrator. This vibe is pretty much the Soraya vibrator without the clit stim. I guess you’ll be wanting a bit more feedback than that, so here we go.

The LELO Insignia Isla was sent to me by Simply Pleasure, thanks to LELO.com, in exchange for this fair, honest and unbiased review. Delivery was fast, secure and discreet, with a professional service as you’d expect from a reputable company like LELO.

Once inside the main outer package, which contained some other LELO sex toys and accessories to review, the LELO Insignia Isla box resembled the Soraya box a lot more closely than I’d been expecting.

What you get in the box

As well as the main feature, the Isla vibrator, you also get:

Instruction booklet

LELO warranty/authentication card

Sachet of LELO Personal Moisturiser

LELO Insignia Brooch

Mains recharging lead

Black satin storage pouch

Measurements

The LELO Insignia Isla vibrator measures 8.5 inches in overall length and has a maximum circumference of 4 inches. It has 5 inches of insertabIe length. These are my own measurements with my own measuring tape.

Bonus features

In addition to being made with fab quality silicone (it feels like velvet and warms to your body temperature very quickly) and being a beautiful item in itself, the Isla has a few extra features which adds bonus points. It’s waterproof, it’s rechargeable, it’s lengthy enough even for the most difficult to satisfy vagina. Ok so this isn’t the cheapest purchase your toy box has ever or will ever see, but for a penetrative vibrator which won’t run out of batteries and which you can take with your to the bath or shower – you get your money’s worth in my opinion. The finger loop in the handle of these Insignia sex toys is a nice touch as not only do they look pretty with the golden ABS lining, they help you keep a good grip of and control over the toy during use, even with lashings of lube. There’s also a travel lock which ensures that you don’t accidentally switch on the vibrator during travel or storage; just hold the + and – buttons simultaneously for 5 seconds. The LED flashes once to let you know it’s worked. Do this again to unlock. Charging the vibrator automatically unlocks it.

Powering up

Before you get to sample the Isla’s vibes, you need to charge it up. No worries about running out of batteries with this vibrator (and most other LELOs come to that) as it’s a rechargeable sex toy. It’s pretty simple to charge, just plug the jackpin end of the lead into the end of the Isla vibrator where there’s a port made for it, and the plug end into your mains socket.

While it’s charging up there is a white LED which flashes behind the controls on the handle to let you know it’s charging – this turns to a steady glow when it’s ready to use. I leave my rechargeable sex toys charging overnight but the LELO site states it only takes 2 hours to charge up. To be honest I am rubbish at noticing when my sex toys are fully charged, as I usually have a few charging up in different locations. A full charge of the Isla gives you approximately 4 hours of constant play at the top speed – and there’s a standby of 90 days.

Functions and settings

There’s three buttons on the LELO Insignia Isla, just like on the rest of the Insignia range. The + button, the central infinity symbol, and the – button. Press + to turn on and raise the vibration intensity, press the central button to change the vibrating function and press – to lower the intensity – all the way down to ‘off’.

The functions are:

1 Constant vibration

2 Pulsating vibration

3 Faster pulse vibration

4 Ascending vibration

5 Oscillating vibration

6 Variating pattern

How it feels (to me) during use

The LELO Isla feels best to me when I use some lube with it. As a silicone sex toy I need to use water based lubricant (don’t use silicone lube, it will damage the silicone material of the toy). Silicone and latex don’t have any contra-indications so you can use a condom over this toy (for anal use, for instance).

It’s really simple to use the Isla and the buttons are easy to find and figure out even when a) it’s inside your vagina, and b) you’re pretty much away with the orgasm fairies in the land of “YES!”

Sliding the Isla inside, whether vaginally or anally, you can tell that a lot of thought has gone into the subtle contours of the shaft. It has been sculpted to feel both slender enough for comfortable insertion yet lengthy enough and flaring at the right places to give complete satisfaction.

It’s really very enjoyable using the Isla although I do need something extra on my clit while I’m using it, as I don’t orgasm through vaginal penetration alone. It’s really fun to use this for double penetration too (is this rebelling against the intended use? Probably) as you can slide this inside either the vagina or anal entrance while your partner enters the other opening with his penis (or strap on, if you’re a woman with a female lover).

It really is a very versatile piece and the fact I can use it in the bath or shower just adds to its appeal. The tip is very teasing even when used externally – but sadly not powerful enough in itself to make me orgasm through using it like this on my clitoris. The Isla is definitely a pleasurable, luxurious sex toy to have inside my vagina though, while other areas are also being seen to.

Summary

If you love vaginally penetrative dildos, you’ll love the LELO Isla. You can use it as a dildo (off, of course) as well as a powerful vibrator with 6 functions and a range of speeds. I would also personally use the Isla anally, despite this not being an ‘approved by LELO’ use. The finger loop style handle is sufficient to stop it being sucked up by accident and I’m keeping hold of it at the time. I also use a condom over the Isla’s length to protect against unwanted scents permeating the silicone material.

The buttons are easy to use, and of course the waterproof and rechargeable capabilities of the Isla as well as the in-box freebies (storage pouch, lube and brooch) let you know you’ve made a quality purchase.

It’s not just the name you’re paying for here, either – as can happen with so many products labelled designer or high end. LELO have been developing sex toys both as a consequence of their own development team’s research as well as feedback from consumers and reviewers for a number of years. Sometimes they have missed the mark for me, despite being the almighty LELO – but with the Isla the price tag is a genuine reflection of what you receive.

The Isla will also appeal to those seeking a non-phallic dildo or vibrator, an artistic, abstract form to pleasure the body. It has appeal to all areas of the sex toy market, regardless of the sexual or gender orientations of the person or persons using it.

Personally, I prefer the Soraya as you get the flexi- clit stim as well as the powerful vibrations, an extra motor in the place I need it most in order to climax. I don’t orgasm through vaginal penetration alone, although using the Isla anally certainly ramped the heat levels up a notch or 5.

A well designed, powerful vibrator with the added assurance of LELO quality, technology and design.
