LELO LUNA Beads Noir Review by Cara Sutra

The LELO LUNA Beads Noir were sent to me as part of the LELO Dare Me Pleasure Set, which also included the Sensua Suede Whip and the Etherea Silk Cuffs.

I’ve never been much of a Ben Wa Balls/Love Balls kinda girl. I can’t figure out if this is because I just focus on getting myself off with clitoral stimulation, and penetrative action is by sex with my male partner or else a fab dildo or powerful vibrator inside my vagina at the same time as something is buzzing ferociously on my clit.

In any case, I feel like I should like the whole kegel balls affair; after all, they’re great for your pelvic floor exercises and after two kids i really should be giving a little more attention to internal workouts than simply ensuring I have an orgasm after masturbation, sex and especially fisting. But enough about that for now.

The LELO LUNA Beads Noir, quite obviously, are coloured black. You can buy a set of powder pink and blue LELO LUNA Beads in either standard or mini size from Lovehoney. The black has much more of a visual appeal for me though. Blame my goth girl heart.

The premise of the LELO LUNA Beads Noir is fairly simple. There are two ‘beads’ or Ben Wa/Kegel balls. These are a weighted ball, placed inside a tough and resilient ABS plastic outer. The two balls can be used with or without the removable silicone harness, but it’s easier with. One of the balls has a retrieval loop attached firmly to it, which is threaded through the harness before inserting that ball into it and helps keep it in place. The LELO LUNA Beads Noir are meant for vaginal use only. I would say this even if it’s not on the official materials – because the other ball in the harness isn’t attached to the harness in any way, and if you placed it inside you anally there’s a slight chance of it coming out from the silicone harness and getting lost up inside you. Obviously this doesn’t happen in a vagina because: cervix.

As the LELO LUNA Beads Noir are moving inside the vagina, and the motion of the internal weighted free-rolling ones are knocking about, the vaginal muscles and walls naturally clench and tighten around them. This is a mini-workout for your girly bits and regular use tones and contracts the vagina. A tighter vagina = tighter feel during sex so kegel ball use is very popular with women who are either aware of their ‘vaginal tightness’ status or feel a little too loose down there and want to tighten up. This is particularly the case after childbirth, especially if you forget to do your pelvic floor exercises regularly.

They don’t just have a medical health use though, the movements inside are meant to be pleasurable and a great way to get aroused before masturbation or sex. As you can wear them out and about, the naughtiness of feeling these sensations in public just adds to the hotness.

I’ve always found that kegel balls don’t feel quite comfortable inside me. The weight of them as I’m walking about feels less than pleasure to me and more like something I have to think about and remember. If I wear something inside myself out and about for naughtiness purposes then it’s usually a butt plug. Does this make me weird? Perhaps. In any case, I’m not saying that the LELO LUNA Beads Noir are a bad idea, far from it. If you’re a fan of kegel balls or Ben Wa Balls these are the most luxurious I’ve come across (ahem), and I’ve handled a fair few in my time writing product descriptions.

The LELO LUNA Beads Noir are presented beautifully, with semi-transparent, almost smoky effect balls so you can barely see the loose ones which roll inside, and of course the silicone harness is a thoughtful addition and one which feels velvety to the touch and warms to your body temperature fast.

I’m still not a huge fan of Ben Wa Balls, they’re not the first item I’d reach for either for vaginal tightening (I do my pelvic floor exercises thank-you-very-much) or for naughty out and about arousal. Or even in the house arousal. I’m going to keep working at it though, and you never know, one day I may discover a psychological breakthrough and be unable to stop raving about the pleasure that these babies bring.

If you’re a fan of Kegel Balls or want to give them a try for either the sensations or the tightening, I’d definitely recommend this LELO LUNA Beads Noir set. They’re obviously manufactured to a high standard, won’t fall apart inside you and the loop is attached firmly to the end. They’re not too big, with a circumference of 3.9 inches each (1 inch diameter), and the insertable length of the whole thing is just 3 inches. Length including the retrieval loop is 6 inches.

The weight is a little confusing going by the LELO website, as the product page states that each ball weighs 37g and the Dare Me Pleasure Set (in which I received my LELO LUNA Beads Noir) states that each ball weighs 28g. What else could I do but weigh them myself?

My scales give a read out of just under 36g per ball – obviously a touch more for the one with the loop – and a total weight of balls and harness of 75.6g.
