Cowboy Heat – Western Romance for Women
Edited by Delilah Devlin (Review)
I do love me a cowboy. The thought of a handsome, muscular and stubbly cowpoke, Stetson on his head, faded jeans and check shirt… it’s enough to make any dame reach for the nearest fan. Luckily, Delilah Devlin has just the anthology for those amongst us who want to ride towards the sunset with a hot rancher.
Cowboy Heat, Delilah’s follow-up to Cowboy Lust, is an anthology full of cowboy goodness, with stories ranging from historical hotness (Mrs. Morgan and the Marshal by Emma Jay) to a romp with a country singer (Backstage Pass by Cynthia D’Alba).
Three picks of the bunch are –
* Unfinished Business by Cat Johnson, in which city girl Skye returns back to her roots and reunites with her cowboy crush at her school reunion.
* Shall We Dance? by Myla Jackson, in which dance instructor Sadie gives a gruff cowboy a private lesson in waltzing, and ends up in a passionate clinch.
* Mrs. Morgan and The Marshal by Emma Jay, the anthology opener, in which a rancher’s widow gets her passion reignited by her marshal lover.
I’m a huge fan of Delilah’s anthologies, and yet again she’s managed to tap into one of my fantasies. Cowboys are such enduring characters, and I’m pretty sure we all have a favourite cowboy in mind, whether traditional gunslinger (think Butch Cassidy) or futuristic space cowboy (a la Mal from Firefly). This anthology is a loving, sexy and warming tribute to the studly cowboys of our hearts, and definitely one to pick up (along with Cowboy Lust, of course).
